We love wine swinging at the beach. Lucky for us we live close to the Pacific coast with it's the beautiful and dramatic coastline.
This time our companion was 2016 Old Vine Riesling by Hyland Estates. The grape for this wine came from a single vineyard of McMinnville AVA in Willamette Valley of Oregon. AVA in the United States is like AOC in France or DOC in Italy - a wine-growing district within a specific wine region.
Shining sun, hot sand, ice-cold Pacific Ocean, and Riesling. It's a song!
We tasted some of it on the beach with cheese and homegrown apples.
And then we saved some wine to finish later at a local seafood restaurant. It paired well with fresh boiled Dungeness Crab and Oregon shrimp.

Tasting Notes
Dry style 2016 Hyland Old Vine Riesling opened up with aromas of orange blossom, yellow apple, apricot, and a familiar wet stone note of Willamette Valley.
We tasted lemon candy, yellow apple, nectarine, and almost a flinty note.
Hyland Riesling has vibrant acidity and slightly off-dry finish, which will equally please those who like dry and those who want sweetness in the wine.
