2023 Anne Sophie Dubois Sans Detour

2023 Anne Sophie Dubois Sans Detour

This delightful wine, named “Without Detour,” or 2023 Anne Sophie Dubois Sans Detour, is a gem from the Beaujolais region, crafted by the talented Anne Sophie Dubois, who brings passion (and a bit of mischief) to her winemaking.
Sans Detour is a perfect example of her mischievous wine talent.

Unlike the expected Gamay-based wine the Beaujolais is famous for, this one is made entirely of Gamaret grapes, a hybrid created in Switzerland by crossing Gamay with the Rheihensteiner varietal. That’s why you won’t find Beaujolai’s name on the label: Anne Sophie created the wine from an unauthorized grape in this region. Nevertheless, her mischief is delicious!

Anne Sophie Dubois is known for her innovative winemaking approach and deep respect for the terroir. She trained in Beaujolais and Burgundy, gathering experience that fuels her creative process. Her commitment to sustainable practices has led her to create wines that capture the essence of the region while embracing a playful spirit. With a focus on lesser-known grape varieties and techniques, she continuously surprises wine lovers with her unique offerings.

2023 Anne Sophie Dubois Sans Detour Tasting Notes

Upon pouring, we were greeted with a deep, vibrant purple hue that beckoned us to sip. The aroma is a burst of fresh dark and red fruits—blueberry, black cherry, plum, and dried strawberries with maybe a hint of cocoa nibs, creating an inviting bouquet.

The taste? It dances on the palate with refreshing acidity, perfect for lazy sunny days. Its juicy quality keeps us reaching for another sip and another.

This wine pairs beautifully with grilled chicken, cheesy pizza, or a charcuterie board—super versatile, much like a handy Swiss Army knife.

In short, the 2023 Anne Sophie Dubois Sans Detour is an adventure into an unknown land, reminding us to take roads less traveled and savor life’s journey. So let’s grab a bottle (or two) and toast to good friends and great moments. Cheers!
