Trimbach Gewurztraminer 2017

Trimbach Gewurztraminer 2017 consistently proofs that wine lovers can always count on this producer.

Trimbach Wine Story

Founded in 1626, Trimbach is among the most prominent producers of the Alsace region of North Eastern France and is now run by the third generation of the Trimbach family.

Pierre Trimbach (winemaker since 1979) was named one of the world’s Top Ten White Wine Winemakers by Decanter Magazine in 2006. He was also named “Wine Personality of 2016” by Betthane & Desseauve Magazine, and they score Cuvée Frederic Emile 2008 a rare 20/20.

Trimbach Estate is situated in Ribeauvillé comune on the Wine Route, between the vineyards and the mountains. This village boasting a rich historical heritage, is in the heart of Alsace wine growing and cuisine.

Sheltered by the Vosges Mountains and exposed to maximum sunshine, the Ribeauvillé fault line offers a rich mosaic of soils (limestone, sandstone, marl, clay, etc.). With these natural assets, the area has the perfect conditions for an array of aromatic grape varieties.

While the Trimbach family focuses on Riesling with its unequaled fruitiness, finesse, elegance, it also produces wines from all Alsace grape varieties.

Trimbach Gewurztraminer 2017 is a fine example of that.

In The Bottle

Sourced from the Trimbach family’s own vineyards and growers with whom the family has long-term relationships, this 100% Gewurztraminer is one of Trimbach’s most unique wines.

The wine is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel and concrete vats to retain the aromas and fruitiness. Typically, ready wines are aged two years before release to achieve the balance of fruit and acidity.

In the Glass

Trimbach Gewurztraminer 2017 is a very perfumed wine with aromas of orange marmalade, peach, honey, and limestone jumping out of a glass.

The off-dry palate continues with flavors of sweet tangerine and orange rind, apricot, and peach skin. The aftertaste has light almond bitters and spicey white pepper notes.

Trimbach Gewurztraminer 2017 quickly made our top value wine list with a price under $20.

What are your thoughts on Trimbach and other Alsace wines if you tried them? What is your favorite Gewurztraminer?
