Pinot Noir from Dundee Hills AVA of Willamette Valley of Oregon is always a delight, and Twomey Dundee Hills Pinot Noir 2018 is no exception.
While Twomey winery is a relative newcomer to the Oregon wine scene, they’ve been making Pinot Noir under this label for over two decades in California.
Until the acquisition of Prince Hill vineyard property in Dundee Hills, Twomey bought grapes to produce small lots of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir.
2018 is only the second vintage since Twomey settled in Oregon.

In the Bottle
2018 was a forgiving harvest. While cool spring delayed the bud break, warm summer with a few heat spikes sped up the ripening, and dry harvest in the fall helped grapes reach full phenolic maturity.
The fruit for this wine came from three Dundee Hills vineyards: Prince Hill, Meyer, and Black Walnut.
The new wine was matured in French oak barrels (35% new oak) for 17 months on primary lees.
In the Glass
On the nose, Twomey Pinot Noir Dundee Hills 2018 is an exciting bouquet of cherry and raspberry, red rose and underbrush, autumn forest after the rain.
The flavors of black cherry and Morello cherry, ripe raspberry, and cherry followed in step with aroma.
Finish
The finish is long filled with dry strawberries. The wine has an excellent balance between fruit, acidity, and moderate tannin. So if you’re a wine lover who doesn’t care for tannin, this wine is for you.
We suggest opening the bottle ahead of time and giving it at least 15-20 minutes to breathe. Even better yet, if you decant it.
2018 Twomey Pinot Noir is ready to be enjoyed now and can benefit from ageing for five years or so.
