2014 Ovide K Vintners

Ovide 2014 is another instant hit from K Vintners. This wine is signature Washington state blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Syrah. It comes from the Walla Walla Valley that is responsible for some of the state's most highly acclaimed wines and is home to both historical wineries and younger, up-and-coming producers.

Wine Review and Tasting Notes

About K Vintners

Before founding the winery, California native Charles Smith, the future proprietor, and winemaker of K Vintners spent nine years in Scandinavia. While in Scandinavia he managed rock bands and concert tours throughout Europe that included wining and dining. In 1999 Charles came back to the states and settled in Seatle where he opened the wine shop. The same year he met young Frenchman and winemaker while on the road trip in Walla Walla. This young winemaker ignited Charles's passion for making his own juice. In 2001 K Vintners opened the doors to the public and released its first 1999 K Syrah. Ever since K Vintners keeps pleasing our palates.

K Vintners is producing wines from 2 distinctive viticultural zones: Wahluke Slope and Walla Walla Valley. Each of these areas is the crucial unique ingredient for Syrah in its pure expression and the unforgettable blends.

Tasting Notes

This deep ruby red wine starts with dark fruit nose of cassis, ripe plum and raspberry jam. As it opens up olive, herbs and smokey enrich the bouquet. In tune with the nose, the palate layered with dark cherry, prune, blackcurrant, tobacco, and chocolate. Refreshing acid and fine tannin counterbalance the richness of the fruit to make it a wineswinging experience to remember.

Long and lingering finish tempts you to take another sip time after time. It would pair well with a romantic dinner. Don't forget the steak, though!
