Aurosa Pinot Gris was one of our discoveries of the Willamette Valley wine tasting event organized by Small Producer Speakeasy.
At the event, when we learned the exciting story of the Antiquum Farm organic vineyard, our expectations, and taste anticipation did not change.
As soon as we tasted Aurosa we knew, it was not another Oregon Pinot Gris. It was much better than we expected!
Aurosa Pinot Gris by Antiquum Farms 2017 Tasting Notes
It had a color of pale lemon with pink hew because juice went through about 36 hours of skin soak.
The nose was very intriguing: full of floral notes such as rose and violets. Fruit notes, delicate and intertwined, included citrus, pear, and apple.
The palate had medium acidity with apple, Muscat, floral, grassy and mineral notes.
Overall, 2017 Aurosa Pinot Gris had an unexpected complexity for Pinot Gris.
We paired it with cheese and crackers, but we think, it could easily be consumed without food. When paired with food though, it would greatly compliment oysters and white fish.
