Naked Winery
Seaside Tasting Room
There are lots to see and to do when you visit Pacific Coast of Oregon. You can hike, you can ride the dunes, enjoy dramatic shoreline view, and even surf but you must wear a wetsuit because the water is cold. Until recently you couldn't do one thing - get Naked! And not because the water is cold but because Naked Winery didn't have a tasting room on the coast until they opened one in Seaside, Oregon.
On our trip to Seaside, we stopped by Naked Winery modern tasting room to try the current releases. It was a spare of the moment trip on one of those sunny autumn days in Oregon and we got the tasting room almost to ourselves. To our surprise, at least half a dozen club members stopped by to pick up their wine shipment as we were tasting the wine. Kudos to Naked marketing!
Naked Winery builds its following on provocative marketing strategy and solid wines. One can't help but smile reading their labels. There's a bottle of wine for every dating occasion. You can Tease with Semi-Sweet Riesling, Foreplay with Seductive Chardonnay. For less than serious relationships, there's Fling Gewurtztraminer or Committed Red Blend for otherwise minded. And there's whole varietal range of Oh! Orgasmic! Bottles. Whether you're a Vixen or a Cougar or a Cowboy, there's a bottle for you!
Naked Wine
Review and Tasting Notes
We started with Frisky Prosecco. It's an excellent start to a sunny afternoon with its nose of fresh cut grass, underripe apricot, and a touch of honey. On the palate, it's sweet with a bit of acidity with peach leading the way.
It makes a good bottle for the lazy afternoon on the beach couple of blocks away.
Naked Cowboy was next in line. Just like the name implies it was a naked Sauvignon Blanc and what you expect from one with lemony nose with a touch of fresh cut grass. On the palate, it's a dry wine with pronounced green apple. It's an easy wine to drink on a sunny afternoon with a company of friends.
The next two wines are from the Outdoor Vino collection. They both come in a bottle that looks like a regular wine bottle but made out of plastic.
Outdoor Vino Pinot Gris is a typical representation of varietal with green apple, citrus and a bit of fresh cut grass.
Outdoor Cabernet Sauvignon is a dry wine with primary flavors of black currant and touch of plum.
It'a good option for a picnic or poolside party when you can't bring a glass bottle and don't like the idea of boxed wine.
Penetration Cabernet Sauvignon would make an excellent partner to a prime rib. It greats you with a medium ruby color. On the nose, black currant, raspberry jam, and smoke. The palate is equally powerful with sensible tannins, cherry, raspberry, and smokey flavors.
It can easily highlight romantic candlelight dinner. Just imagine two of you, candles, juicy steaks on the plates and glasses half filled with Penetration.
The rest is up to you.
Naturally, the last on the tasting menu is Orgasmic Syrah. It made a berry good impression on the nose with aromas of blueberry, black currant, green leaf, dry herbs, and smoke. The palate followed in berry luscious manner with blackberry, cherry, well-incorporated tannins, notes of cured meat and smoke. The finish of this Syrah was true to its name - long and orgasmic.
Are you in a mood for a bottle? Have you got Naked for your date?
