Barons de Rothschild Champagne Brut

Barons de Rothschild Champagne Brut

Barons de Rothschild Champagne Brut reflects the family’s commitment to perfection. The only standard Rothschilds accept – excellence, and we could taste it in this Brut.

Barons de Rothschild Champagne Brut

In the Bottle

Barons de Rothschild Champagne Brut is a classic cuvée of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir. Chardonnay was primarily from the Côte des Blancs Grands crus and Premiers crus and Pinot Noir primarily from Verzenay, Ay, Mareuil-surAy, and Ambonnay villages.

During the blending process, up to 40% of three to four-year-old Chardonnays and Pinots Noirs reserve wines were used, showing the commitment of the Champagne house to quality and consistency.

The Champagne is aged for four years in the caves. During the disgorging, the low dosage is used to maintain the authenticity of the wine. Ready Champagne is laid to rest in the bottles for at least six months.

The mindful and careful approach resulted in excellent flavors.

Barons de Rothschild Brut In the Glass

Everything about Brut Barons screams classic. From the pale straw color with never-ending fine bubbles rising to the surface of the glass to brioche, apple, and lemon on the nose.

Yet, something that sets it apart is balance. The brioche manifests itself in a lightly toasted baguette. Neither apple nor lemon notes dominate, and both come across as ripe fruits aroma.

What impressed us the most were the flavors and textures of this Champagne. The creamy mousse felt extremely rich on the palate and projected, surprisingly, a full-bodied mouthfeel. Classic apple came across as apple candy and lemon as perfectly ripe Meyer lemon.

The balanced acidity and minerality complemented each other instead of competing for our taste buds.

Aftertaste

Sweet lemon and pleasant minerality aftertaste linger for a while. It’s Brut, yet it doesn’t pucker your face. Fruit, acidity, and minerality keep each other in place, resulting in complex Champagne that you can never have enough of. Brut Barons de Rothschild is an instance when the winemakers strike a perfect bubbly balance.

What are your thoughts about this Brut if you tried it or your favorite Champagne?
