Franciacorta is the Italian answer to Champagne of France. Located in the Lombardia region, it’s dedicated to sparkling wines made pretty much from the same grape varietals and following the same production process.
Berlucchi Franciacorta ’61 Rosé
Berlucchi Franciacorta ’61 Rosé is a blend of 60% Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) and 40% Chardonnay.
It showed off with a soft, foamy mousse, a long-lasting cordon around the glass.
The aromas of strawberry and raspberry compôte nicely blended with subtle nuances of minerality and crusty bread.
The palate is filled with strawberry, ripe red cherry, and hints of strawberry and cranberry. It is refined and elegant, with bright acidity balanced well by the medium-high sugar content.
This wine paired beautifully with Capicola, Smoked Coppa, Taglio cheese, and duck paté.
Franciacorta is our go-to when we’d like a dry traditional sparkling from outside of France, and ofter it beats Champagne in quality and almost always in value. Especially when it comes to vintage wines like Barone Pizzini Satèn Franciacorta 2015.
