Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé

Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé

With its subtle and gourmet aromas, some consider Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé a reference point amongst rosé champagnes.

Billecart-Salmon Champagnes were a sommelier secret for a while, and you could taste it only in luxury resorts, upscale restaurants, and specialty shops in limited quantities. Thanks to the change in distributing strategies, Billecart-Salmon became more accessible to Champagne lovers.

Having tasted Billecart-Salmon Brut Réserve, we were looking forward to tasting the Rosé Brut.

In the Bottle

The Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé blend is 40% Chardonnay, 30 % Pinot Meunier, and 30% Pinot Noir vinified as red wine.

Chardonnay is sourced from the best Crus in the Champagne region. Pinot Noir came from the Montagne de Reims and the Grande Vallée de la Marne. Finally, Pinot Meunier is from the Vallée de la Marne and the southern slopes of Epernay.

The fermentation was done in stainless steel tanks. The wine was aged on lee for 36 months.

In the Glass

This Brut Rosé has a vibrant strawberry pink color with a copper hue.

The delicate aroma is a concoction of apple pie drizzled with caramel, green apple, and lemon.

On the palate, the apple flavors complemented by pie crust filled with orange cream and lemon.

Finish

Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé is dry, yet not too much. It has almost an ideal balance between sourness and sweetness. The finish is long and filled with caramel apple and orange marmalade.

It’s hardly a bargain at $100, yet we think it’s worth every penny and more. Try it for yourself and let us know what you think.
