Rádi byste ochutnali víno v našem sklípku?
Don’t jump to conclusions! It’s not a drunk talk.
That’s what the host of Château Mcely in the Czech Republic asked us when he learned that we are from Wine Swinging: “How would you like to try wine in our wine cellar?”
It’s hard to beat tasting wine in the cellar, as we did at Château in the Czech Republic. It was like the cherry on top of our stay there.
The collection is very diverse, with some classic wine, but being in Czechia, we wanted to taste something local.
Château Mcely Wine Cellar Tasting Flight
Saul Fabig Sauvignon Blanc Extra Brut traditional method sparkling hit the spot after our friends’ wedding party the night before. Professionally speaking, it had what we expect from quality bubbles. It was dry with mineral and flinty notes. Made from Sauv Blanc, it differed from Champagne, having more flowery notes and almost no brioche.
Next, we tried the same producer’s 2019 Sauvignon Blanc still wine. It was on a grassy, vegetal side with a hint of green papaya.
Last, we had 2018 Kamil Prokeš Pinot Noir from a boutique winery headed by a winemaker who coincidentally is a three-time sabrage champion and 2017/2019 Sommelier of the Year for Czechia and Slovakia.
Interestingly, it used to be one country until 1992.
While Extra Brut hit the spot, our favorite was Pinot Noir because of its cool-climate Old World character.
