2018 Casa Sant’ Orsola Prosecco Millesimato Eleonora Collection

2018 Casa Sant' Orsola Prosecco Millesimato

2018 Casa Sant’ Orsola Prosecco Millesimato Eleonora Collection is one of the top from the Casa Sant’ Orsola winery. Typically, Prossecos are non-vintage blends, just like Champagne. The only time you’ll see the year on Champagne bottle if it was an exceptional year in the vineyard. The same goes for Prosecco. That’s why we bought this bottle when we saw it in the store.

In the French tradition of Champagne, they added “Millesimato” on the label. French add “Millesime” to their bottles. In English, it means “Vintage,” but in New Wold sparkling wine, they just put the year.

Casa Sant’Orsola is one of the largest Italian family-run wineries. It is owned by The Fratelli Martini Secondo Luigi SpA corporate family.

Casa Sant’Orsola uses the most modern oenological techniques and technologies. The raw material cultivated directly in Piedmont and bought from the best cooperatives in other regions, for a final product. Then it is up to a Piedmont wine expert to bring it to our senses. The chain is short and controlled directly by the Fratelli Martini Secondo Luigi spa agronomist team.

2018 Casa Sant’ Orsola Prosecco Millesimato Tasting Notes

Now that you know what’s in the name let’s talk about what’s in the bottle

2018 Casa Sant’ Orsola Prosecco Millesimato had more complex aromas than your typical sweet fruit-forward peach Prosecco. We sensed pear, honey, minerality, waxy, moss, and herbal notes.

On the palate, nectarine, peach skin, and pear were complimented by orange mousse sherbet, minerality, and just a touch of almond. It had an excellent balance between sweetness and acidity.

The finish had an intriguing combination of orange-apple candy, and, thanks to good acidity, while starting off-dry, it felt crisp on the back end.

We were delighted that we got this bottle, and we look forward to tasting some more Prosecco Millesimato.

If you like this wine, you might also like De Bussy Valse Romantique Rosé. Both sparkling wines are in the same price category. You can enjoy them with or without food. If you have a chance to compare them side by side, we would love to know your opinion!
