Brachetto Vino Spumante Cocktail

Brachetto Vino Spumante Cocktail

Brachetto vino spumante coktail is our idea how to get most of Brachetto!

Sweet and sparkling is a separate category of awesomeness that many call dessert drinks. Some call it cocktails. And some would drink it anytime. Not just after dinner.

We created this cocktail to enjoy Piemonte sparkling without food, but if you would rather have it with some appetizer, consider spicy ones.

What is Brachetto?

Brachetto is a delightful, low-alcohol, frizzante wine made in the Piedmonte area of northern Italy. It has berry aromas of raspberry and cherry with notes of tar, clove, and flowers such as violets or orchids.

Brachetto is a red Italian wine grape variety grown predominantly in the Piedmont region of northwest Italy. Its production falls within an area of the provinces of Asti and Alessandria between the rivers Bormida and Belbo, plus various parts of the province of Cuneo. At Canelli, on the border between the hills of Asti and the Langhe proper, the grape is known as Borgogna.

Brachetto is usually produced as light-bodied, highly aromatic wines with distinctive notes of wild raspberries, blackberries, and rose petals. The wine is best consumed in its youth and is typically served slightly chilled.

Brachetto Vino Spumante Tasting Notes

We used a very affordable Brachetto we found locally: Castello del Poggio Brachetto Vino Spumante Dolce.

The raspberry pink color, tiny bubbles, and creamy mousse appearance looked very promising.

On the nose and palate, we felt strawberry compote, strawberry syrup, and orange.

Brachetto Cocktail Glassware

We tried it in Italian-made white wine glasses which we usually use for sparkling and white wine.

Considering the flavors of the Brachetto vino spumante cocktail, we think any white wine glass would do. The usual sparkling flute would also be ok, but decorating the cocktails with a lemon slice would be somewhat complicated. Try placing half a slice on the glass in this case. Nevertheless, any wine lover would have flutes in a bar. If nothing else is available, the flute will look great, too!

Brachetto Vino Spumante Cocktail Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 oz Brachetto Piemonte (Dolce)
  • 1/2 oz Dopo Teatro Cocchi Vermouth Amaro
  • 1 teaspoon Luxardo Maraschino Originale
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • A slice of lemon

Instructions

Pour some Brachetto into a glass, then add the mixture of maraschino liqueur, amaro, and lemon juice, then slowly pour the rest of the sparkling wine.

Decorate with a slice of lemon

Notes

6 oz of sparkling instead of 4 oz will make this Brachetto vino spumante cocktail less sweet.

It is also possible to mix this cocktail with chilled black tea.

Both vermouth and Brachetto are from Piemont.
